# Aquastar > Aquastar is a Swiss professional dive-watch manufacturer founded in Switzerland in 1962 by Frédéric Robert, and Swiss-made ever since. Inventor of the no-decompression bezel (1964 patent) and the skindiver category (1957 Model 60). The brand filed eleven patents between 1957 and 1977 that became the technical foundation of the modern dive watch. Issued to the French Navy. Worn by Jacques Mayol, Philippe Cousteau, and Don Walsh (the watch that reached Challenger Deep, 1960). ## About - [Why Aquastar](https://aquastar.ch/why-aquastar/): What makes the brand distinct, in plain language. - [Heritage timeline](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/): The 1962 founding story, six decades of dive-watch engineering. - [Complete brand history (long read)](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/history/): Long-form history from 1957 to today. - [Eleven patents · 1957 to 1977](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/patents/): The technical patents that defined modern dive watches. - [The Deepstar no-decompression bezel](https://aquastar.ch/the-deepstar-bezel/): How the patented 1964 bezel works. - [The 1959 Aquastar Navigator](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/aquastar-navigator/): Frédéric Robert's first analog dive computer. - [History of the Benthos 500](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/history-of-the-benthos/): The first Swiss 500-metre diver. - [Worn by](https://aquastar.ch/heritage/worn-by/): Jacques Mayol, Philippe Cousteau, Don Walsh, French Navy. - [A letter from the inventor](https://aquastar.ch/a-letter-from-the-inventor/): Founder's perspective on the brand. ## Watch collections - [All watches](https://aquastar.ch/watches/): The current Aquastar collection (30 models across 4 families). - [Deepstar collection](https://aquastar.ch/watches/deepstar/): The original 1962 dive chronograph, the no-decompression bezel watch. - [Benthos collection](https://aquastar.ch/watches/benthos/): The 500-metre Swiss diver (1970), including the Benthos Professional. - [Model 60 collection](https://aquastar.ch/watches/model-60/): The 1957 skindiver, the watch that defined the category. - [Airstar collection](https://aquastar.ch/watches/airstar/): The 1965 aviation chronograph. - [Straps and bracelets](https://aquastar.ch/straps/): ISOfrane, Tropic, BOR bracelets, NATO straps. ## Stories and editorial - [Stories and guides](https://aquastar.ch/stories/): Long-form editorial about dive watches and Aquastar. - [What is a skindiver?](https://aquastar.ch/stories/what-is-a-skindiver/): The dive-watch category Aquastar invented in 1957. - [Inside the column wheel](https://aquastar.ch/column-wheel/): The Deepstar III chronograph calibre. - [In the field](https://aquastar.ch/in-the-field/): Working divers, photographers, ambassadors with Aquastar on the wrist. - [Glossary](https://aquastar.ch/glossary/): Dive-watch terminology. ## Press and recognition - [Press coverage](https://aquastar.ch/press/): 190+ articles across Hodinkee, Fratello, Worn & Wound, Gear Patrol, New York Times, Monochrome, Oracle Time, WatchTime, SJX Watches, aBlogtoWatch, Two Broke Watch Snobs, The Grey NATO podcast. - [Press corner](https://aquastar.ch/press-corner/): Press kits, hi-res images, contact for media inquiries. ## Journal - [Journal](https://aquastar.ch/journal/): The Aquastar editorial blog, dive-watch deep-dives and brand updates. ## Customer - [Service and repair](https://aquastar.ch/service/): Authorized Aquastar servicing. - [Contact](https://aquastar.ch/contact/): The Aquastar workshop, Switzerland. - [Help desk](https://aquastar.ch/helpdesk/): Support tickets. - [FAQ](https://aquastar.ch/faq/): Frequently asked questions. - [Shipping and delivery](https://aquastar.ch/shipping/): Shipping policy. - [Return policy](https://aquastar.ch/return-policy/): Returns and exchanges. ## Sitemaps - [Brand pages sitemap](https://aquastar.ch/sitemap-index.xml): 206 brand-side pages (English, German, Mandarin). - [Flat combined sitemap](https://aquastar.ch/sitemap.xml): every URL, flat, for tools that don't follow sitemap-index. ## Languages The site is available in English (default), German (/de/), and Mandarin (/zh/) — hreflang configured.
